Privacy

Searchia is a privacy-friendly search engine. This page explains what we collect, what we do not, and how preferences work. For product background see About.

What we do not collect

How search works

Results are sourced from Brave Search and, when enabled, Kagi. Your browser talks to Searchia on Cloudflare Workers; we forward the query to those providers to fetch results. Brave does not store your queries in a way that identifies you to Searchia. When Kagi is enabled, Searchia uses operator-maintained session cookies solely to retrieve results — those cookies are not your cookies.

Short share links

When you press Share on a results page, Searchia creates a short link such as searchia.co/AbC23xy. To make it work, we store the shared page's address (for example the query, region and tab) with a random code. Nothing about you is stored with it: no IP address, account or device information. Anyone with the link can open the shared results. Links that nobody opens for 12 months are deleted automatically.

Voice search

When your browser supports it, the search box may offer a microphone control. Voice search only runs after you tap the mic and grant microphone permission. A listening overlay shows when the mic is active. Searchia does not upload recordings to our servers — recognition runs in your browser (and may use the browser vendor’s speech service depending on your browser and settings).

Cookies and local storage

Searching does not require cookies. Optional preferences (theme, accent, safe search, region, preferred engine, suggestion toggle, new-tab setting) may be saved in first-party cookies and/or localStorage so they persist between visits. You can change or clear them anytime on Settings.

Logs and security

Cloudflare may process standard request metadata (such as IP and user agent) for delivery, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. Sampled Workers Logs may retain request paths for operations; query strings are configured to be redacted from persisted observability logs. We apply security headers and rate limits to protect the service and upstream providers.

Third parties

Instant answers and maps may call third-party services (for example Mapbox for maps, or public APIs for dictionaries, FX, and optional translation). Those requests leave Searchia only for the feature you triggered. Market answers (stocks, crypto, indices, currencies, commodities; for example apple stock, $aapl or bitcoin price) show a chart from TradingView in an embedded frame. TradingView receives your IP address and the displayed symbol, never your search query: the frame is loaded without a referrer and sets no cookies. Searchia does not use Google Fonts, but some browser extensions add Google Fonts to the pages they modify. Our security policy allows those font requests, so when an extension does this, Google receives your IP address for the font download.

When enabled by the operator, optional error monitoring may open a crash-report dialog after something breaks, so you can optionally send details to Sentry (including any name, email, message, or screenshot you choose to submit). Searching itself does not require this.
